Cocaine Addiction Symptoms

posted in Signs |

Chances are if you’re wondering about the symptoms of cocaine addiction, you’re wondering if you or someone you know might be addicted. The fact that your concerned is a red flag in and of itself, but what are the other cocaine addiction symptoms?

Cocaine Addiction Symptoms:

  1. Excessive or inappropriate use of cocaine: Using when it will interfere with your other responsibilities, using just before or while driving, using because you feel like you have to in order to function.
  2. Preoccupation with getting and/or using cocaine: If your worried about when and where your next high is going to be, or how you are going to get more cocaine, than you have one symptom.
  3. Experiencing Tolerance: Does it take more cocaine for you to get high than it used to? This is a symptom, but it can also be a symptom if you seem to need less than you used to, to get high. Either way.
  4. Lack of control over your cocaine use: This symptom would suggest that once you start it is hard to stop, or that you use more than you intended to.
  5. Withdrawal is a symptom: Physical withdrawal symptoms may include shaking, nausea, goose pimples, a runny nose, as well as others. There can also be mental symptoms due to withdrawal like agitation, anxiety, and depression.
  6. Continued use of cocaine despite it causing you problems: If in spite of loosing a job, getting a ticket, being arrested, financial problems, family problems or any number of other problems that are even partly related to your cocaine use, you are unable or unwilling to stop, then count this as a definite symptom.
  7. Trading other enjoyments in life for cocaine: Here we mean such things as giving up activities you used to enjoy so you have time and money to do cocaine or letting go of friends and family to be with others who do cocaine.

You only need to have three of the above seven cocaine addiction symptoms to be considered addicted. Even if you think you only meet one of the above criteria you should consider having an evaluation.
