Rio de Esperanza at Mingus Center is located in the Verde Valley near Cottonwood, Arizona, and offers treatment options for those suffering from substance abuse and addiction. The program fore goes the 12-step program for a four-phase “Life Circle,” which consists of healing internalized negative thoughts, the awareness of life steps, personal acceptance, and re-creating a new life circle.
The process to reaching each phase includes personalized and individualized combinations of individual therapy, group counseling sessions, peer support, acupuncture, equine therapy, EMDR, yoga, meditation, and neurofeedback.
Special Interest: Much of the therapy performed at Rio de Esperanza at Mingus Center centers on the natural beauty and Native American heritage of the Verde Valley area of Arizona. This may include outdoor hikes, meditation, and other aspects of the life circle treatment philosophy in the outdoor red rock environment that surrounds the treatment center.
Day trips to Native American sites, hikes to mountain vistas, and other off-campus experiences may be implemented in coordination with equine therapy at the facility.
